Nomura says it is closely monitoring the risk of yen depreciation pushing up interest rates.
Nomura Holdings CEO Kentaro Okuda said on Wednesday that he is closely monitoring the risk that a weaker yen pushes up interest rates. Speaking at a securities firms' conference in Tokyo, Okuda said market expectations for further Bank of Japan rate hikes remain high, and the market has already priced in a "slightly higher" rate outlook. Okuda said that as long as the BOJ maintains clear communication with the market, rate hikes are unlikely to have a major impact on Japanese stocks.
