Institution: Apple's 2026 iPhone Duo sales are expected to reach 6 million units.

Market research firm Counterpoint Research said Apple is expected to sell about 6 million iPhone Duo units this year, the first forecast for how Apple's first foldable device will perform on the market. Ivan Lam, a senior analyst at Counterpoint, said that volume is closer to the typical level of the current niche foldable phone market than to the sales performance of Apple's usual smartphone products. Final sales will depend on how quickly Apple can ramp up production capacity for the new hardware. As a flagship model in Apple's product line, the device carries the entire industry's hopes for foldable phones, with expectations that it will spark greater interest in foldables and boost their sales growth. Market research firm IDC expects foldable phone shipments to grow 13% this year to 22.9 million units, driven by Apple's iPhone Duo. Without the addition of the iPhone Duo, IDC said the segment could decline this year.
