Poll: About 70% of respondents hope the UK moves closer to the EU.

A "Politico Polling Project" conducted by Politico's website in collaboration with the UK firm "Public First" released survey results showing that about 70% of British respondents believe the UK should establish closer relations with the EU. Politico reported that within the UK's ruling Labour Party, "a highly sensitive moment" is underway, and Prime Minister Burnham is under growing pressure from within the party over calls for "Britain to rejoin the EU." Former Prime Minister Blair urged Burnham to put this goal on Labour's agenda for the next decade. London Mayor Sadiq Khan said that "Brexit" was "a serious act of economic self-harm," and that Burnham should immediately launch discussions on "rejoining the EU."
