Barclays extends office attendance trial period.

Facing strong employee resistance, Barclays is giving staff more time to adapt to its return-to-office requirement. The bank had originally planned to mandate that employees be on-site at least three days a week. The bank's tightened hybrid working policy was originally set to take effect next Monday, but in an email sent to employees on Tuesday, Barclays said it would establish a transition period running until early 2027. The internal memo was issued after employees expressed strong dissatisfaction with Barclays' tightening of its hybrid working policy. Thousands of employees responded to a call from the trade union: employees with long commutes should be exempt from the new rules, and all employees should receive a one-time subsidy to offset the additional commuting costs.
