Database company MongoDB announced that its President and CEO Chirantan "CJ" Desai has stepped down from his roles, effective immediately, to take an executive position at Meta Platforms. The company's board of directors has reappointed Dev Ittycheria as interim President and CEO. He previously held both positions from 2014 to 2025. The board has now initiated a process to find Desai's permanent successor. Board Chairman Tom Killalea said in a statement: "MongoDB's business is strong, and Dev Ittycheria is the best person to serve as interim President and CEO. He knows the company deeply and has been serving as an actively engaged executive board member over the past year. He will step in immediately to ensure a smooth transition." Following the news, MongoDB's U.S. shares plunged 15% in premarket trading.
