France's far-right National Rally party says it has reached the threshold to form a caucus in the Senate for the first time.

On September 27 local time, France held partial Senate elections, with 178 of the Senate's 348 seats up for renewal and 1,686 candidates running. This was the last nationwide election before France's 2027 presidential election. According to the first results released as of the evening of the 27th, National Rally president Bardella said the party expects to win at least 10 Senate seats together with the Union of the Republican Right, thereby reaching for the first time the threshold required to form a parliamentary group in the Senate. The final seat distribution still awaits confirmation from the full vote count.
