Azerbaijan's state oil company Socar, French energy giant TotalEnergies and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's XRG unit approved a project to boost natural gas production in the Caspian Sea. Production from the second phase of the Absheron condensate field in Azerbaijan's section of the Caspian Sea will begin in 2029, with total field output rising to 6 billion cubic meters of gas a year and 47,000 barrels a day of condensate, TotalEnergies said in a statement Saturday. The first phase of the development has been supplying Azerbaijan's domestic market, while the planned expansion will also export gas to Turkey through existing infrastructure connecting Azerbaijan with European markets, TotalEnergies said.
