SoftBank Group has secured an additional $450 million, expanding its existing credit facility to $6.5 billion, giving the Japanese conglomerate greater financial flexibility as it ramps up artificial intelligence investments, according to people familiar with the matter. The previous facility, equivalent to $6.05 billion, was originally set to mature this month, and SoftBank will have an additional year to draw on the expanded facility, the people said. It is unclear whether SoftBank has drawn on the new facility or plans to. More than 20 banks are now participating in the credit facility expansion, the people said. They added that the interest rate on the new agreement is 210 basis points above the benchmark Secured Overnight Financing Rate.
