Bank of America survey shows Asian software and platform stocks rapidly gaining investor favor, becoming the region's most attractive AI trade after ranking near the bottom just over a month ago. Strategists including Kaspar Lam wrote in a September 15 report that a quarter of respondents picked this category as their preferred AI trade in Asia over the next 12 months, the highest share among options including storage and data centers. In August, the theme ranked near the bottom, only above AI computing power. This trend suggests investors may be shifting AI trades from stocks of companies building computing power to those that can prove AI can drive profits. As some AI leaders call for slowing the pace of development due to safety concerns, this shift could benefit Indian AI-related software stocks. The BofA survey also shows that monetization is becoming a bigger factor for investors increasing their holdings of AI-related stocks, with 80% of respondents listing it as key to boosting confidence, up from 64% in August.
