Tech industry leaders have recently called for slowing down AI development to prevent its growing power from threatening human survival. However, George Kurtz, CEO of global cybersecurity leader CrowdStrike, said on Monday that slowing the development of increasingly powerful AI models will not eliminate their security risks. "Pandora's box is already open," Kurtz said on a program. "There are already a large number of models on the market, whether frontier models or open-weight models, and they are already dangerous in themselves." Kurtz believes that regardless of whether frontier labs slow down development, cybersecurity needs will always exist because potentially risky models have already been put into use.
