Oracle has reportedly launched a new round of layoffs, with cuts in some teams potentially reaching double-digit percentages. The layoffs had been brewing internally and are mainly aimed at reducing salary costs to support the company's continuously expanding AI infrastructure investment. Oracle's total headcount for fiscal 2026 has already decreased by 21,000, a reduction of about 13%, with the company employing roughly 141,000 people before this latest round of layoffs. At the same time, the company is aggressively building data centers, with first-quarter capital expenditure reaching $28.5 billion, up from $8.5 billion a year earlier, and it maintains its capital expenditure forecast of $90 billion to $95 billion for fiscal 2027. The report said the latest layoffs began on Monday, with posts from self-identified affected employees appearing on LinkedIn, Reddit, and Blind; Oracle has not yet commented on the matter.
