Hong Kong police: 1,209 people report suspected credit card fraud involving iPhone purchases, with total losses of about HK$25 million.

According to reports from Radio Television Hong Kong website and other Hong Kong media on September 14, at 8 p.m. on September 12, pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro series opened across all channels. Subsequently, many netizens posted on social platforms that criminals had fraudulently used their credit cards to purchase iPhones, involving credit cards from HSBC, Hang Seng Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, and others. Hong Kong police initially classified the cases as fraudulent property infringement cases. As of 5 p.m. on September 14, police had received reports from a total of 1,209 members of the public, with total involved amounts of approximately HK$25 million. The cases are still under investigation.
