With half a month to go before the Mid-Autumn Festival, time-honored mooncake shops in Shanghai are already seeing a buying frenzy. Reporters on site observed queues stretching dozens of meters outside several time-honored stores, with some people stocking up on 20 boxes of fresh pork mooncakes at a time. Many foreign tourists eager to try the delicacies are also in the queues, and some vendors have thoughtfully added multilingual labels to their price lists. Besides the classic fresh pork mooncakes, this year's new stinky tofu fresh pork mooncake has become a popular novelty, with one store selling three to four thousand a day. A store manager said the shop now averages 150,000 yuan in daily sales, selling 25,000 mooncakes of various types, with at least 40,000 on peak days, and waits of 2 to 2.5 hours are possible during peak periods.
