Ministry of Water Resources: 45 rivers nationwide are still above warning levels.
This morning, the Ministry of Water Resources held a discussion to analyze and assess the national flood prevention situation. As of 9 a.m. today, 45 rivers in regions such as Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Henan, and Zhejiang remain above warning levels, with the highest exceedance reaching 3.51 meters, and 11 rivers are still above guaranteed levels. According to forecasts, from August 17 to 18, due to rainfall and upstream inflows, Taihu Lake will experience a large-scale basin flood. The mainstream section from Kangkang to Sandaojia River in the upper reaches of the Heilongjiang River will see flood levels exceeding warning thresholds, and major tributaries of the Yangtze River, including the Min River, Tuo River, and Dadu River, as well as upstream tributaries of the Xijiang River such as the Nanpan River and Beipan River, will undergo significant water level rises, with some small and medium rivers in the heavy rain areas possibly exceeding warning levels. From 8 a.m. today to 8 a.m. tomorrow, the likelihood of mountain flood disasters occurring in central and southern Sichuan, and northeastern Yunnan is high, prompting the issuance of an orange warning for mountain floods. The Ministry of Water Resources has maintained a yellow flood warning, reminding the public in areas impacted by heavy rain and floods to take precautions.
