In the first half of this year, the number of individual shareholders of Samsung Electronics approached 8 million. This significant increase was driven by an unprecedented boom in the stock market, combined with heightened market expectations for the value of semiconductor companies, leading to a surge of individual investors flocking to this blue-chip stock. According to data from the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on August 15, the number of small shareholders of Samsung Electronics reached 7,971,242 by the end of June, setting a historical high, and increasing by approximately 2.92 million compared to 5,049,085 in the same period last year. With South Korea's adult population being around 43 million, this means that roughly one in five South Korean adults holds Samsung Electronics stock.
