Multi-department discussions to deploy flood prevention and rescue work in key areas.

On August 15, the Office of the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters and the Ministry of Emergency Management continued to organize joint consultations with the China Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Transport, and key provinces such as Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Henan, and Guangdong to assess the impact of recent heavy rainfall and to study and deploy flood prevention and rescue work in key areas. The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters raised the flood emergency response level for Jiangsu to Level 3 in response to flood conditions in the Taihu River Basin and activated Level 4 flood emergency response for Zhejiang, while dispatching work teams to Jiangsu to assist and guide flood relief operations; it will continue to maintain Level 3 flood emergency response for Henan and Level 4 flood emergency response for Anhui. The National Disaster Reduction and Relief Committee maintained a Level 4 national disaster relief emergency response for Zhejiang, Henan, Shaanxi, and Heilongjiang. The Ministry of Emergency Management maintained Level 4 response for geological disasters in Zhejiang, Anhui, Henan, and Hubei. The consultations indicated that significant regional flooding has occurred in the Taihu River Basin, with water levels in Taihu rising rapidly and multiple monitoring stations in surrounding river networks exceeding warning levels and guarantees; parts of the Huai River Basin, including the Sha Ying River and the Changjiang Chuhe River, are operating at high water levels, putting great pressure on levees; heavy rain persists in Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong, with a high risk of localized flash floods and geological disasters, making the flood prevention and disaster relief situation severe and complex.
