He Xiaopeng: The new strong standards for autonomous driving focus more on the shortcomings of car manufacturers.

Recently, He Xiaopeng, the chairman of Xpeng Motors, stated in an interview that Xpeng and other new car manufacturers had brought high-speed assisted driving to China around 2020, even expanding into the global market. In July, the new national battery standards, considered the "strictest in history," were officially implemented; at the same time, the country's first mandatory national standards for L3 and L4 level autonomous driving were also officially released, further raising the safety thresholds for automobiles. He Xiaopeng mentioned that more and more automakers are making assisted driving a standard feature in vehicles, as both Chinese and global consumers have a demand for intelligent driving. However, many car owners may not be able to distinguish between autonomous driving and assisted driving, or the strengths of various intelligent driving functions, which is why a more comprehensive and systematic strong standard needs to be established. "This standard not only ensures that automakers have strengths but, more importantly, focuses on their weaknesses in the field of autonomous driving, and solidifies the medium standards in system planning. Xpeng began researching autonomous driving and 'three-electrics' strong standards early on; assisted driving has shown a safer takeover rate on highways and a lower collision rate, so I believe that a better strong standard will enable manufacturers to develop safer cars in line with those standards."
