Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation's Zhao Haijun: In the second quarter, overseas orders are returning, and localized manufacturing continues to strengthen.
On August 14, in the second quarter performance meeting, SMIC's co-CEO Zhao Haijun introduced that, classified by region, the sales revenue for the season accounted for 90% from China, 8% from the United States, and 2% from the Eurasia region, all showing increases in amount. Among these, the China region saw the largest growth, reaching 22%, mainly due to strong demand for chips supporting artificial intelligence, the return of overseas orders, and continued strengthening of localized manufacturing. In terms of wafer revenue by size, 12-inch and 8-inch wafers accounted for 78% and 22% respectively. In terms of amount, the revenue from 12-inch wafers increased by 24% quarter-on-quarter, while the revenue from 8-inch wafers grew by 11%.
