European diesel prices have surpassed aviation fuel for the first time in over a year, raising market concerns due to tightening supplies.

According to data from the London Stock Exchange Group, European diesel prices have surpassed jet fuel prices for the first time in over a year. This is due to Europe being able to access alternative supply sources for jet fuel from outside the Middle East, yet facing challenges in securing additional diesel supplies for industrial and agricultural needs. Goldman Sachs analysts stated in their report, "As winter approaches, we believe the risk of diesel prices continuing to experience a scarcity premium is higher than that of crude oil." LSEG data indicates that this week, diesel prices have exceeded those of jet fuel. On August 10, the price of jet fuel shipments arriving in Europe was $24 per ton lower than diesel futures. According to LSEG and Argus Media data, this represents the largest discount since July 2025.
