On the 13th at a news conference held by the State Council Information Office, Dong Baotong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Director of the National Nuclear Safety Administration, stated that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the number of nuclear power units in operation in China will jump to the top position in the world. Currently, China has the largest number of nuclear units under construction and is second in the world for units in operation. A total of 65 units have received operational licenses, and this number is expected to approach 100 by 2030, at which point China will become the world leader, making the task of ensuring high-level nuclear safety even more challenging.
