The State Council Information Office held a series of themed press conferences today titled "Starting Off the 14th Five-Year Plan." At the conference, it was introduced that the 14th Five-Year Plan period is a decisive phase for achieving carbon peak and a key period for implementing the country's 2035 self-defined contributions. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment will focus on "five key areas" to promote climate change response work in a coordinated manner. First, continue to promote green and low-carbon transformation in key sectors. Second, accelerate the construction of a national carbon market. Third, improve the carbon emission statistics and accounting system. Fourth, comprehensively enhance climate resilience. Fifth, actively promote international cooperation on climate change response.
