Today, the key project of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Lion Rock Channel project, will see new construction progress. The main structural elements of the controlling project, the Lion Rock Bridge, including the east and west anchorages, which can be regarded as the bridge's "Golden Key," will complete all main construction, laying the foundation for the subsequent installation of the catwalk and main cables. The Lion Rock Channel is approximately 35 kilometers long, starting from Nansha, Guangzhou in the west to the towns of Humen and Shatian in Dongguan in the east. Following the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Channel, it is yet another important cross-river passage in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the first dual-layer composite road channel in the Pearl River Estuary, expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2029.
