According to a source directly familiar with the matter, the chairman of Tata Sons the main holding company of the Tata Group, which has a market value of $400 billion is considering resigning due to strained relations with its largest shareholder. The Tata Trusts, the groups charitable organization, holds about 66% of Tata Sons' shares, which controls over 30 group companies, including Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Motors, and Air India. Conflicts have arisen between the two sides over board seat allocation, strategic planning, and the planned exit of minority shareholder Shapoorji Pallonji, leading to the dismissal of a Tata Sons director. A source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, stated that although chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran is contemplating resigning, no final decision has been made. The Economic Times of India reported on Wednesday that Chandrasekaran has discussed the possibility of resigning with close associates ahead of the annual shareholder meeting on August 18, when shareholders will vote on his reappointment.
