Ministry of Water Resources: Maintain emergency response for flood defense in 11 provinces.

On the 11th, a reporter learned from the Ministry of Water Resources that the ministry has maintained a Level III emergency response for flood defense in Zhejiang and a Level IV emergency response for flood defense in Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, and Hubei. From 8:00 AM on August 10 to 8:00 AM on August 11, affected by rainfall, Anhui's Pei River experienced the first flood of 2026. Thirteen rivers, including the tributaries of Pei River, Jiuli River, the Chaohu water system, the Chuhe River in Jiangsu, the tributary Mingyih River of the Jinsha River in Yunnan, the Tanglangchuan, the tributary Xihe of the Qingshui River in Ningxia, the tributary Xinchang River of the Cao'e River, and the tributary Puyang River of the Qiantang River in Zhejiang, experienced water levels exceeding warning thresholds, with the maximum exceedance reaching 1.08 meters. Among them, Ningxias Xihe and Yunnan's Mingyih River experienced floods exceeding safety limits, with Xihe recording the highest flood since 1980, based on available data. Additionally, in the river network area surrounding Taihu, 87 stations reported water levels exceeding warning thresholds by 0.01 meters to 1.87 meters, with 60 stations exceeding safety thresholds by 0.02 meters to 0.87 meters, and 31 stations registering the highest water levels on record. Based on the 24-hour rainfall forecast, the Ministry of Water Resources issued targeted warnings to 11 provinces, including Beijing, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Yunnan, providing the list of affected counties, reservoirs, areas at risk of mountain floods, and specific points, reminding them to ensure reservoir safety during flood seasons and to prepare for floods in medium and small rivers as well as risks from mountain flooding. Currently, 12 working groups from the Ministry of Water Resources are on the front lines providing assistance and guidance for flood defense operations in regions including Heilongjiang, Fujian, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hebei, Henan, and Anhui.
