John Lee: The goal is to publish Hong Kong's first five-year plan within the third quarter.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu stated on the 9th that the HKSAR government is working diligently to organize and analyze opinions, with the aim of releasing Hong Kong's first five-year plan in the third quarter of this year. On the same day, Lee led the HKSAR government department heads to attend the regional consultation meeting for Hong Kong's first five-year plan and the 2026 Policy Address, listening to local residents' opinions and suggestions regarding the five-year plan and the fifth Policy Address. The consultation meeting was held at Kowloon Tong Government Primary School, attended by approximately 120 citizens. Lee mentioned that the HKSAR government has been committed to enhancing the housing ladder, and with the development of the Northern Metropolis, it will help provide more space and improve living conditions. The waiting list for public housing has dropped from a peak of 150,000 to about 100,000, a decrease of one-third, reflecting the effectiveness of the HKSAR government's substantial construction of public and subsidized housing units. After the regional consultation meeting, Lee met with the media and expressed his belief that citizens are very concerned about when the Huanggang Port can officially operate for public use. His stance is clear: the sooner, the better. Of course, public access must ensure smooth, safe, and orderly operations to provide a good experience for everyone. The HKSAR government will conduct extensive testing.
