Breaking News: Today, following the release of weak U.S. employment data, the exchange rate of the yen against the dollar suddenly surged again: the dollar fell by as much as 1.1% to 156.68 yen per dollar. It is still unclear what triggered this market fluctuation, and it is uncertain whether Japan will intervene in the market again. Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki and U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen confirmed on August 3 that Japan and the U.S. jointly intervened in the foreign exchange market on July 31, Eastern Time, to support the yen's exchange rate. After the intervention, the yen briefly rose to the range of 155 yen per dollar, but earlier today, it fell back to the range of 158 yen per dollar.
