The price of erbium oxide has surged significantly this year. Since August, most rare earth concept stocks have seen increased funding.
Since late July, the mainstream rare earth varieties have continued to trend downwards. However, the price of medium and heavy rare earth oxide, particularly erbium oxide, has increased significantly, accelerating since July. Data shows that the latest price of erbium oxide is 627,500 yuan per ton, with a cumulative increase of 33.14% since July and a year-to-date increase of 77.11%. The surge in demand for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers has driven the need for erbium oxide. Although the prices of mainstream rare earth varieties remain in a declining channel, institutions are optimistic about a price rebound in the second half of the year. Due to this year's overall increase in rare earth prices compared to last year, the rare earth permanent magnet sector had outstanding performance in the first half of the year. Among the 14 companies that have announced their performance, 13 reported increased profits or returned to profit, with 5 companies showing a year-on-year net profit growth of over 100%. Since August, financing funds have predominantly bought into most rare earth concept stocks, with Xiamen Tungsten, Northern Rare Earth, China Rare Earth, and Longi Magnet Technology achieving net purchases exceeding 100 million yuan. Among them, Xiamen Tungsten had the highest amount, reaching 412 million yuan.
