The Deputy Spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General calls for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine to achieve peace.

On the 6th, UN Secretary-General spokesperson Farhan Haq stated at a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the recent large-scale missile and drone attacks exchanged between Russia and Ukraine. Haq mentioned that Guterres believes that attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure clearly violate international humanitarian law and must be stopped immediately. Guterres once again urged all parties concerned to take urgent action to de-escalate the situation and achieve an immediate, comprehensive, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire, as well as to promote a just, sustainable, and comprehensive peace in accordance with the spirit of the UN Charter, international law, and relevant UN resolutions.
