SoftBank raises $10 billion in loans using its stake in OpenAI as collateral.

On August 6, SoftBank Group revealed in its latest financial report that it has successfully completed a $10 billion margin loan secured by its stake in OpenAI. SoftBank disclosed that on August 5, it signed a two-year loan agreement with Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Mizuho Securities, Apollo Global Management, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, with these financial institutions acting as lead arrangers for the loan. SoftBank plans to draw on these funds within this month. According to the disclosed information, SoftBank Group has guaranteed this borrowing, and the funds will be used for general corporate purposes of the group and its Vision Fund. The agreement also stipulates that in the event of a significant decline in the value of OpenAI's preferred shares, the borrower must provide additional cash collateral or repay the loan early.
