Microsoft (MSFT.O) recently disclosed that most of its artificial intelligence revenue comes from OpenAI. In documents submitted last week, Microsoft stated that for the fiscal year ending in June, its sales from OpenAI reached $24.1 billion. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella previously indicated that by the end of the March quarter, the company's AI business revenue was expected to reach $37 billion on an annual basis. This disclosure reveals that in the most recent fiscal year, OpenAI contributed to more than half of Microsoft's actual AI sales, possibly accounting for about 70%. According to the agreement between the two companies, OpenAI pays Microsoft for computing capabilities, costs related to AI model development, and a share of revenues.
