Federal Reserve official Kashkari stated in an interview with CNBC that he maintains an open attitude toward future policy choices and does not advocate for significant interest rate hikes. He believes that the majority of recent inflation is due to supply shocks, compounded by some demand factors. Kashkari mentioned in the CNBC interview, "My goal is not to slow down the economy but to reduce inflation." He believes it is time to begin gradually raising interest rates, but he does not support a substantial increase. Kashkari emphasized the value of continuing the tradition of explaining the Fed's policy response mechanisms to the public. He stated, "Do not assume that there is some magical number of meetings (to determine policy actions)."
