According to a report by Reuters today, citing multiple informed sources, the U.S. military has consumed most of its stock of high-precision long-range missiles in its conflict with Iranthese missiles primarily include ground-to-ground weapons, namely the Army Tactical Missile System and Precision Strike Missiles. The sources indicated that these two categories of weapons are "almost depleted," but declined to disclose the specific remaining quantities. Analysts point out that the decrease in inventory reflects the Trump administration's decision to avoid higher-risk methods of attacking Iranian targets, such as deploying manned aircraft to drop bombs. Currently, Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of the Army Tactical Missile System and Precision Strike Missiles, has not immediately responded to inquiries regarding supply levels. When asked about the inventory data, the White House referred to a statement by President Trump: the United States has "far more ammunition than any other country in the world," and "far more than is needed by the United States." In response, analysts noted that the production of specific munitions, including shells and various types of missiles, may indeed be at historically high levels, but the supply still "may be far from sufficient to sustain a prolonged war."
