On August 4th, the semiconductor and AI independent research organization SemiAnalysis published an article stating that AMD reached agreements with Meta and OpenAI at the end of last year and the beginning of this year to provide both companies with performance-based warrants. The associated warrants will vest based on the procurement and deployment progress of up to 6GW of AMD Instinct GPUs, and will also depend on whether AMD's stock price can surpass several thresholds, with the highest threshold being $600. AMD's stock price has risen from about $200 in early 2026 to the current range of approximately $500 to $600. Assuming that the warrants tied to the stock price vest in a roughly linear manner and the full 6GW capacity is deployed, the hourly capital cost per GPU for Meta and OpenAI will drop from about $2.15 and $2.50 to approximately $1.60 and $1.75, respectively. SemiAnalysis noted that if AMDs stock price rises to the $600 to $700 range, the capital costs for both companies, specifically regarding GPUs, could potentially decrease to zero. If AMD continues to improve its software stack, secures more large customer orders, and drives its stock price above $1000, the entire cluster's capital costsincluding servers, networking, and CPUscould theoretically also approach zero.
