Rubin Yan elected Speaker of the Armenian Parliament.

Yerevan news: Ruben Rubinyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract Party in Armenia, was elected as the new speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia in a vote held on the 3rd. On that day, Armenian lawmakers voted on whether to approve Rubinyan as the new speaker. Out of 105 members, 91 participated in the vote, and Rubinyan was elected with 63 votes in favor and 28 votes against. The new Armenian parliament held its first meeting on the 2nd, during which the Civil Contract Party nominated Rubinyan as their candidate for speaker. The two opposition party alliances in the parliament did not nominate any candidates for speaker, making Rubinyan the sole candidate. On June 7, Armenia held parliamentary elections, with the Civil Contract Party winning 64 of the 105 parliamentary seats, the "Strong Armenia" party alliance securing 29 seats, and the "Armenia" party alliance obtaining 12 seats. Armenia's parliament operates on a unicameral system, with members serving a term of 5 years.
