Continuous drought causes river water levels to drop, leading to the suspension of multiple ferry routes in the Netherlands.

On August 3, reporters from the Central Station learned that several ferry routes in the Gelderland province of the Netherlands have been suspended due to the continued drought causing river water levels to drop too low. It is understood that the suspension of ferries in Gelderland province and the bordering area with Overijssel province is related to the persistently low water levels of the Rhine River, as well as the decreased flow of its tributaries, the Waal River and the IJssel River. The water level of the Rhine River hit a record low last week.
