According to tech journalist Mark Gurman, the global shortage of memory chips is impacting the supply of Apple's best-selling Mac models. Gurman stated that this shortage is driven by the massive demand for chips from various AI companies. The supply issues have already affected Apple's relatively niche Mac mini and Mac Studio models. Now, Apple is struggling to maintain inventory for the MacBook Air as well, with multiple retailers reporting that the level of supply constraints has reached unprecedented heights. This is further evidenced by the fact that if consumers order a MacBook Air from Apple's official website, delivery won't occur until late August, and some configured models may even have to wait until September.
