Goldman Sachs: The artificial intelligence sector may enter a consolidation phase.
Goldman Sachs strategists have indicated that after experiencing a recent round of volatile market conditions, the outlook for the artificial intelligence sector has improved. The strategists expect that strong earnings performance and a reduction in investor positions will alleviate extreme market fluctuations. The Goldman Sachs team led by Ben Snyder noted in their research report that AI-related stocks may continue to experience volatility after a robust upward trend; however, solid second-quarter results combined with recent de-leveraging by investors suggest that the market is entering a consolidation phase, which is likely to offset concerns about rising capital expenditures. Snyder wrote that the volatility pattern in the AI sector aligns with previous trends, whereby significant price increases are typically followed by a period of consolidation.
