The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs held a national on-site meeting to promote autumn grain production, emphasizing the coordinated management of field operations and agricultural disaster prevention, reduction, and relief.
Recently, a nationwide conference on autumn grain production was held in Dezhou, Shandong Province. The meeting pointed out that autumn grain represents a significant portion of the year's total grain production, and achieving a bountiful harvest hinges on autumn grain. Currently, the country has entered a critical period for flood prevention and drought resistance, and it is also a key time for the formation of autumn grain yields. It is essential to deeply recognize the importance and urgency of managing autumn grain fields and disaster prevention and mitigation, and to genuinely enhance the sense of responsibility and mission. Attention must be focused on key aspects, crucial measures must be implemented in detail, and the foundation for autumn grain production must be solidly established. The meeting emphasized that solid steps should be taken to launch a 100-day campaign aimed at strengthening field management and disaster resistance to achieve a bountiful autumn grain harvest. Fertilizer and water management measures, such as "one spray multiple promotions," must be implemented by crop and region to promote the upgrading of seedling conditions. Agricultural disaster prevention and mitigation plans for the flood season should be put into action, with close attention paid to disasters such as heavy rain and flooding, drought, high temperatures, and typhoons. Monitoring and early warning systems must be strengthened, preventive responses should be implemented in advance, and agricultural disaster relief funds should be effectively utilized to minimize disaster losses. Focus should also be on major pests and diseases, such as the rice planthopper and migratory pests, the corn borer, and southern rust, advancing comprehensive prevention and control measures, joint prevention and control, and emergency responses to effectively combat significant pest and disease challenges. Representatives from 13 major grain-producing provinces, including Hebei and Inner Mongolia, made key exchange speeches. Participants also observed the "ton-and-a-half grain" construction in Lingcheng District, Dezhou City, and the soybean and corn strip intercropping demonstration site in Yucheng City, while experts provided technical explanations in the field classroom.
