Heavy rainfall triggered 8 geological disasters, Sichuan preemptively relocated 40,249 people.
According to the Sichuan Provincial Geological Disaster Prevention and Control Command Office, from 8:00 on August 2 to 8:00 on August 3, heavy rain to torrential rain occurred in the northwest and northeast of the Sichuan Basin, as well as in Luzhou and other areas, with localized severe torrential rain. The maximum rainfall recorded was 192 mm at the Nongxin Village station in Dongyue Township, Guang'an District, Guang'an City. The heavy rainfall triggered 8 geological disasters, with 3 in Yibin City, 2 in Ziyang City, 2 in Meishan City, and 1 in Guangyuan City. There were no casualties, and local preventive measures have been implemented. Sichuan Province proactively relocated residents threatened by geological disasters, successfully avoiding 5 geological disaster incidents and potentially preventing the deaths of 12 people. As of 7:00 on August 3, a total of 40,249 people were relocated for safety across 83 counties in 20 cities in Sichuan within 24 hours. Since the onset of the flood season, a total of 922,058 person-times have been proactively relocated for safety throughout the province.
