On August 3, at the listing ceremony for Chinese government bond futures held at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Huang Tianyou, stated that as the only Chinese government bond futures listed in the offshore market, this initiative is of profound significance: on one hand, it provides global investors with an effective tool to hedge against onshore interest rate risk, assisting in the continuous optimization of asset allocation; on the other hand, it can effectively enhance the participation, liquidity, and pricing efficiency of the government bond market, further promoting the two-way capital flow between the mainland and overseas markets. Therefore, government bond futures not only represent a significant breakthrough for offshore products but also serve as a pivotal milestone in advancing high-level opening up of the mainland financial market and deepening the internationalization of the renminbi.
