Xie Kun, former member of the Party Group and Vice Mayor of Jinan City, Shandong Province, has been "double expelled."
On August 3, the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission reported that according to the Shandong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision: with the approval of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, the Shandong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has filed a case to investigate the serious violations of discipline and law by Xie Kun, a former member of the leading Party group and vice mayor of Jinan City.
According to the investigation, Xie Kun lost his ideals and beliefs, abandoned his original aspirations and mission, was disloyal and dishonest towards the Party, and resisted organizational reviews; he violated the spirit of the Central Eight Regulations by accepting gifts, cash, and consumption cards in violation of regulations; he breached ethical boundaries by misusing funds from managed and serviced parties, illegally lending money to them for substantial returns, and having expenses that should have been borne by himself reimbursed by others; his greed expanded, turning public power into a tool for personal gain, engaging in cash-for-power transactions, exploiting his position for the benefit of others in project contracting and funding applications, and illegally accepting huge amounts of property.
Xie Kun seriously violated the Party's political discipline, integrity discipline, and daily life discipline, constituting serious job-related violations and suspected crimes of bribery. Furthermore, he failed to restrain himself or stop after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, a situation that is grave and has a serious negative impact, warranting strict handling.
In accordance with the "Regulations on Disciplinary Sanctions of the Communist Party of China," the "Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Administrative Punishment Law for Public Officials of the People's Republic of China," the case was studied by the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and reported to the Shandong Provincial Party Committee for approval. It has been decided to impose a penalty of expulsion from the Party on Xie Kun; the Shandong Provincial Supervisory Commission will expel him from public office; his qualifications as a representative of the 12th Party Congress of Shandong Province and as a representative of the 12th Party Congress of Jinan City will be terminated; his illegal income will be confiscated; and his suspected criminal issues will be transferred to the judicial authorities for legal review and prosecution, along with the involved property.
