Three heavily weighted stocks soar as Berkshire's share price hits an eight-month high.
According to a report by CNBC on August 1, shares of Berkshire Hathaway's Class A and Class B stocks rose this week, reaching an eight-month high. An analysis by Barron's pointed out that Berkshires stock price has significantly underperformed the S&P 500 index this year. The current rally has sustaining momentum, supported by substantial price increases in three of the companys key holdings: Apple, Coca-Cola, and Bank of America. Notably, the market value of Berkshire's largest holding, Apple, has now surpassed $70 billion, with a year-to-date increase of over 13%; Coca-Cola, the third-largest holding, has a holding size of $35 billion and its stock price has risen 25% this year; and Bank of America, the fourth-largest holding, has seen a more than 12% increase year-to-date. UBS analysts have raised their target price for Berkshires stock and maintained a "Buy" rating while also increasing the company's earnings expectations. The market speculates that Berkshire could repurchase up to $11 billion in stock during the second quarter, with exact figures to be disclosed in the company's second-quarter earnings report on August 8.
