UEFA demands the resignation of Infantino.
On August 1, UEFA has requested FIFA President Gianni Infantino to resign. If he refuses, UEFA is prepared to initiate a vote of no confidence against him. It is reported that this requires support from 43 of the 211 member countries of FIFA, while UEFA has 55 member countries. Earlier, without consulting the continental football associations, FIFA decided to launch a World Cup share sale plan. Subsequently, UEFA, the AFC, and CONCACAF publicly criticized this plan, with UEFA stating that if FIFA proceeds with this plan, it will refuse to participate in FIFA events, including the World Cup. In the face of considerable pressure, FIFA announced the abandonment of this plan. Infantino stated, The level of discord triggered by this plan, regardless of the level of support, no longer aligns with the interests of the originally set goals.
