In the first half of the year, the consumer market for agricultural products and food ingredients was approximately 4.68 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.02% year-on-year.
Today, it was learned from the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing that in the first half of this year, the supply chain industry of agricultural products and ingredients in China showed a trend of "moderate growth in market size and deep structural adjustment". In the first half of this year, the consumption market size of agricultural products and ingredients in China was approximately 4.68 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.02% year-on-year, falling within the range of moderate growth. Among them, the market size at the retail end was around 3.55 trillion yuan, with a growth rate of 1.76%, continuing to dominate; the market size at the catering end was 1.13 trillion yuan, with a growth rate of 2.82%, becoming an important engine driving the growth of consumption of agricultural products and ingredients. Price differentiation of categories was significant, with pork continuing to decline, while beef and mutton prices rose, and seasonal fluctuations in fruits and vegetables intensified. In terms of imports and exports, imports of beef and seafood increased significantly, while imports of pork and vegetables continued to shrink. Experts stated that online consumption maintained rapid growth in the first half of the year, becoming an important engine driving the demand for cold chain logistics at the end of the supply chain. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, online retail sales of goods nationwide in the first half of the year totaled 6.4296 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year, with a growth of 16.8% in food products, higher than other categories. Experts believe that the third quarter is an important period for boosting consumption for the whole year, with the addition of multiple factors such as tourism, back to school season, holidays, etc., which will boost consumption of catering and agricultural products and ingredients seasonally. July and August are summer vacation months, with students and families traveling in large numbers, so it is expected that there will be a small peak in dining consumption.
