The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the statistics of China's shipbuilding industry for the first half of 2026. The three core indicators of China's shipbuilding industry, including completed shipbuilding volume, new orders, and backlog orders, have reached new historical highs, continuously leading the global market. The completed shipbuilding volume reached 36.5 million deadweight tons, an increase of 51.2% year-on-year; the backlog orders reached 363 million deadweight tons, an increase of 54.9% year-on-year; and the new orders reached 121 million deadweight tons, an increase of 173.1% year-on-year, exceeding the historical peak of annual orders. China's new orders for the three major mainstream ship types account for over 80% of the international market share, demonstrating the country's total assembly and construction capabilities for all ship types. Green, low-carbon ships have become the core track for the transformation and upgrading of China's shipbuilding industry.
