Canadian Prime Minister: Will consider all options to respond to US-Canada tariffs.

On July 21, local time, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that he had spoken with US President Trump after the announcement of US tariffs. Carney also stated that if implemented, Canada will consider all possible options. The White House announced on the 20th that the US will impose an additional 50% tariff on some Canadian products in response to "discriminatory measures taken by Canada against the US in the trade of cars and car parts". A fact sheet released by the White House on that day showed that the US would impose tariffs on Canadian products such as wine, hockey sticks, and cement, even if these products comply with the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement. The White House stated that these tariffs are intended to offset the burden and disadvantages to American businesses caused by Canada's discriminatory practices, and the new tariff measures will take effect on August 19th, Eastern Time.
