Apple (AAPL.O) plans to launch a leasing program called "Apple Upgrade," which will be one of the biggest changes to the company's device sales model in history. According to sources, the service is expected to launch on July 28 and initially be available in the US market, supporting most iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch models. Apple will collaborate with the Klarna Group, which will provide funding for the project. This program will first be launched in the US and will simultaneously be available in Apple's physical retail stores and online platforms. The service will operate on a subscription-like model, allowing users to pay the device fee in advance during the lease period, upgrade to a new product early, or continue to keep the device after the lease ends. In some cases, an early return may require an additional fee. Similar to car leasing models, users can also return the device at the end of the lease period. The leasing period for iPhones and Apple Watches is 24 months, while Mac and iPads are 36 months.
