Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with Australian Foreign Minister Huang Yingxian in Manila on the 21st. Wang Yi stated that under the joint leadership of the leaders of the two countries, China-Australia relations have embarked on the path of improvement and development, which is in line with the interests of the peoples of both countries and the expectations of the international community. China is willing to strengthen communication and trust with Australia, expand cooperation, and continuously make new progress in China-Australia relations. Both sides should handle differences with an attitude of equality and mutual respect, converge on common ground while shelving differences, and ensure that bilateral relations achieve a virtuous cycle and move forward, rather than being disrupted by certain biases. It is hoped that Australia will adhere to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, abandon double standards, and work with China to maintain the momentum of improving bilateral relations.
