On July 17, 2026, the "My Steel" Mid-Year Conference and Forum on High-Quality Development of the Steel Industry Chain was held in Beijing. Xia Nong, Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, delivered a keynote speech titled "Reducing and Optimizing, Innovating Leading, Promoting High-Quality Development of China's Iron and Steel Industry". Xia Nong stated that in the first half of this year, the domestic steel market maintained a weak balance. Specifically, the consensus on self-discipline in production reduction and inventory reduction has further solidified, and crude steel production has continued to decline. The structure of steel products is continuously adjusted and optimized, with demand for high-end manufacturing improving. However, factors such as weak demand, the implementation of new overseas steel trade protection measures, and rising raw material prices will continue to put significant pressure on the industry in the second half of the year. Therefore, steel companies should continue to adjust production rhythms based on downstream demand, no longer rely on "price wars" for survival, and instead focus more on technology, quality, brand, value, and service.
