On July 17, the Second Intermediate People's Court of Beijing publicly sentenced Zhang Jinsong, former Deputy Director of the Regulatory Department of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, for bribery and taking bribes with influence. The defendant Zhang Jinsong was sentenced to thirteen years in prison and fined two million RMB for bribery, and sentenced to seven years and six months in prison and fined fifty thousand RMB for using influence to take bribes. The sentences are to be served concurrently for a total of sixteen years in prison and a fine of two hundred and fifty thousand RMB. The illegal gains from bribery and using influence to take bribes will be confiscated and turned over to the state treasury.
